Forgotten Chambers is an indie virtual reality puzzle game. Explore a series of magical rooms with a talking hat as you attempt to solve the mysteries of the dancing lights around you.
Forgotten Chambers begins with a young girl awakening in a strange room filled with arcane symbols and a mysterious guide urging her to find answers to the puzzles laying around. Using magic and basic problem solving, the game revolves around moving through a series of 5 rooms and completing puzzles. While the gameplay and difficulty is not particularly innovative, Forgotten Chambers manages to nail a few mechanics not common to the world of virtual reality. Plot and world building drive the narrative along, narrated by an actual character, alongside the usual object manipulation silly gameplay. While this may seem a basic part of any game, VR titles have primarily been gameplay or mechanic focused. The traditional building blocks which form the base of Forgotten Chambers make for a refreshing and engaging game.
Forgotten Chambers is one of a few rare VR games which use the medium to enhance a story. While the casual and laid back fantastical world of puzzles may not appeal to all, it is a heartening step forwards.
